Joint problems again is a broad term, ranging from sprains & strains of the joints, to arthritis.

Arthritis is seen as 2 types;

  • OSTEOARTHRITIS - OA
    • commonly seen as the "wear & tear" of life, more common in the larger joints - hip, elbow, shoulder & knee, where cartilage has been worn away over time eventually allowing bones to rub on each other.
  • RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS - RA
    • more common in the smaller joints manifesting as knobs on the finger joints, for example.

TCM sees these conditions as an obstruction of Qi & Blood within the body affecting muscles, tendons & joints, commonly called Bi syndrome.
